Active Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs)
Every Temporary Flight Restriction the FAA currently publishes, in plain English — grouped by state and type, with the airports each one affects. TFR shapes come from the FAA's own TFR mapping service; dates below are day-precision from the FAA's published titles, so always verify exact effective times in the official NOTAM before flight.

What is a TFR?
A Temporary Flight Restriction is an FAA-issued NOTAM that closes or restricts a volume of airspace for a limited time. Flying into one without authorization can mean certificate suspension, fines, and — for security TFRs — an intercept. They come in a handful of flavors:
- VIP — presidential and senior-official movement; typically a 10 NM inner core and 30 NM outer ring, and the most aggressively enforced.
- Security — standing or event security airspace (the Washington DC area TFRs are the permanent example).
- Hazard — disaster response, chemical spills, and similar ground hazards.
- Firefighting — wildfire operations; drones and GA traffic ground the tankers, so give these a wide berth.
- Space Operations — launch and reentry windows around sites like Cape Canaveral and Boca Chica.
- Sporting events — the standing 3 NM / 3,000 ft AGL restriction over major stadium events, activated game by game.
How to check before a flight: review TFRs in your EFB or at tfr.faa.gov, confirm the exact effective times in the NOTAM text (this page's dates are day-precision), and get a briefing — TFRs can pop up with only hours of notice, which is why checking right before departure matters more than checking the night before.
TFRs are step one — the weather watch is ours
ATIS Alerts doesn't send TFR alerts. What it does: a Telegram message the moment your airport's ATIS letter, flight category, or winds change. Free for your home field.
