Ohio Valley Flying Weather
OH · IN · IL · KY · TN · WV · PA · 2006–2025 · 96 eligible airports
One of the cloudiest regions in the country from November through February, with persistent low stratus, river-valley fog, and recurrent freezing-rain and mixed-icing events. Spring is the severe-weather season — organized squall lines, derechos, and tornado outbreaks recur from central Illinois and Indiana down through Kentucky and Tennessee. Summers are hot and humid with airmass thunderstorms and nocturnal MCS activity, while terrain-driven fog and obscuration persist year-round in the West Virginia and Appalachian-plateau valleys. Best flying is September-October; worst is the late-fall-through-winter stratus season and spring severe episodes.
