The only truly tropical flying weather in the continental US: warm year-round with prevailing east-southeast trade-wind flow and strong sea-breeze circulations on both coasts. The May-October wet season brings near-daily afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty outflow winds, while the November-April dry season delivers long stretches of high-ceiling VFR. Tropical cyclones June-November are the dominant seasonal hazard; fog and icing are essentially non-factors. Best flying is the winter dry season; worst is late-summer afternoons and hurricane-threat periods.
