Live Weather for Your RC Flying Field | Free Club Widget
Put your field's live conditions on your club website: a plain-English RC flyability read and a live crosswind meter: your runway on a compass with the wind arrow, headwind/crosswind numbers, and today's forecast crosswind, updated continuously from the nearest aviation reporting station. Prefer something smaller? A crosswind-only versionshows just the meter. One copy-paste script tag, free forever, with a small “Powered by ATIS Alerts” credit that links to your field's page.
Two widget styles: pick one in the builder
Both are live previews of the real widget. The full card gives members the complete “is it flyable?” picture; the crosswind-only card is about half the height and fits sidebars and members-page columns. Either way you keep the field name, the Telegram alerts link, and the “Powered by ATIS Alerts” credit.
Full field weather
Flyability verdict, crosswind meter, today's forecast, and current conditions.
Crosswind only
Just the crosswind meter and forecast crosswind, a smaller card for sidebars.

Powered by ATIS Alerts
This preview is the real widget: exactly what visitors to your club site will see. The small “Powered by ATIS Alerts” credit below it links to your field's weather page and is included in your embed code; keeping it is how the widget stays free.
Installation
- Pick your widget style and flying field above, then copy the one-line script tag. Your choices, full or crosswind-only (
data-mode) and kt or mph (data-units), are baked into the code. - Paste it into your club page's HTML wherever you want the widget to appear.
- That's it: the widget renders, sizes itself, and keeps itself updated.
WordPress: add a “Custom HTML” block and paste the script tag.
Squarespace / Wix / Weebly: add a “Code” / “Embed HTML” element. If your plan strips scripts, use the plain-iframe code instead.
Club forum or anything else: if you can paste HTML, it works.
Who embeds this widget
AMA club websites
Members check the club homepage for a live 'is it flyable?' read instead of posting 'anyone flying today?' in the group chat.
Club webmasters
One script tag, zero maintenance: the widget sizes itself, refreshes itself, and never touches your page's styles or scripts.
Flying-site landowners & parks
Show visiting pilots the current wind and conditions for the flying area right on your visitor-info page.
Hobby shops & flight instructors
A live local-field conditions box next to your hours tells customers whether today's a flying day.
About the data
Weather comes from the FAA/NWS Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov) METAR feed for the reporting station nearest your field: the widget always names the station and how far away it is. Field listings come from the AMA Club Finder (used with permission) and the FAA/AMA published flying-site list. If a feed is briefly unavailable the widget says so rather than showing stale or fabricated data. Built by ATIS Alerts, a product of ME3 Social Media, Inc.
Widget FAQ
Is the widget really free?
Yes, free for any club or personal website, no account, no API key. We ask only that you keep the small 'Powered by ATIS Alerts' credit link (it links to your field's own weather page) intact; that credit is how the free widget stays free.
Where does the weather come from?
From the nearest full-scale aviation reporting station (METAR) to your field: most AMA fields in our directory are within a few miles of one. The widget always names the station and its distance, because the weather is measured at the airport, not your flight line.
What is the flyability read?
A plain-English RC verdict (calm / good / marginal / poor) computed from sustained wind, gusts, precipitation, and visibility, with the reasons shown. It's a convenience read for hobby flying, not a go/no-go instruction. Assess conditions at the field.
How does the runway crosswind meter work?
For fields where we've measured the runway orientation from public aerial imagery, the crosswind meter is automatic: no setup. For any field you can also enter the runway number yourself (e.g. 27 or 09/27) in the builder, and your entry always wins. Either way the widget draws your runway on a compass with a live wind arrow and shows headwind and crosswind (plus gusts) for the favored end, the end with the most headwind right now, along with the day's forecast crosswind from the nearest terminal forecast (TAF). Club-entered numbers are magnetic while winds are true, so treat components as approximate for hobby use, and if our measured orientation looks wrong, correct it on your field's page.
What's the difference between the two widget styles?
The full widget shows the RC flyability verdict, the crosswind meter, today's forecast crosswind, and current conditions (visibility, temperature). The crosswind-only widget is a compact card with just the crosswind meter and forecast crosswind, about half the height, made for sidebars. Both keep the field name, the Telegram alerts link, and the 'Powered by ATIS Alerts' credit.
Can visitors switch the widget between knots and mph?
No, you pick the unit in the builder and it's baked into your embed code, so the widget always shows the unit your members actually use (most RC clubs pick mph). To change it later, rebuild the code with the other unit and re-paste.
My field isn't in the list; can you add it?
The directory now carries 2,400+ fields, the current AMA Club Finder inventory (used with permission) merged with the FAA/AMA published flying-site list, so search for your club name or city first. Still missing? Contact us with your club name, field location (coordinates if you have them), and AMA club number.
Will it slow my site down?
No. The loader is about 2 KB, loads async, and the widget renders in an isolated iframe with no external fonts or frameworks; it can't touch your page's styles or scripts.
Can I remove the 'Powered by ATIS Alerts' credit?
No, the attribution link is the license for the free widget. If you need a customized version, contact us.
Terms of use
The widget is free for any website, club, commercial, or personal, provided the “Powered by ATIS Alerts” credit link remains visible and unmodified. Don't present the widget as an official FAA or AMA product, or as an operational data source. We may update the widget's design and data over time; embed codes keep working. Need something custom? Contact us.
Give your members weather alerts, too
Any member can follow your field free on Telegram, a calm-window ping when it's worth loading the car, plus a morning field brief. A nice companion to the widget on your members page.
